BIG SEIZURE OF OPIUM.

OFF CANTON GOVERNMENT

VESSEL.

What must constitute nearly a record seizure, of raw opium, estimated to be worth 800,000, was effected, early yesterday morn- ing by Hongkong Revenue O ACTE co-perating with the Police, who raided and seized П small Chinese steamer, the RS, Tung Hang, belonging to the Anti-Opium reau of the Canton Government Eighty-three cases of drugs, alleged to be, raw opium, were later re- moved ashore.

It is understood that the Revenue Officers received information on Tuesday that A certain Canton steamer, with a huge consignment of opium, was a stranded off Cheung Chau Island Prompt action was
