K.R.A. ACTIVITIES REVIEWED.
DETAILED ACCOUNT OF YEAR'S WORK..
LARGE MEMBERSHIP.
The General Committee of the Kowloon Residents' Association In their annual report, which has just come from the press, tell in detail the work that has been accomplished during the past year and the efforts made generally to ensure progression. In communal. amenities on the Peninsula.
The report states:
In their report for the year, 1927, the General Committee stated they were glad to roport a year of quiet endeavour; your Committee are now able to report that the results of this quiet endeavour, carried on throughout 1928 and the year under review are apparent in many ways in the Peninsula, particularly in those very important directions, the "Star" Ferry Approach and the Children's Playgrounds. These Bubjects will be dealt with more fully later, but it is refreshing to consider that while the development of the Peninsula has steadily pro- gressed, the aims of the Association to ensure corresponding progression in communal amenities have been kept well to the fore and have at- tained no inconsiderable measure of auccess.
In presenting this view of the year's activities, your Committee have followed the famillur form of previous reports, all correspondence under the various headings being given in the appendices.

Star" Ferry Approach. This important subject has again engaged the earnest consideration of your Committee throughout the year. On the commencement by Government of the levelling of the oid "island" site, the D. S. P. Kow- loon- afforded an interview, to our Sub-committee, when proposals for its utilisation pending the adoption of a complete scheme of reorganisa tion of traffic were discussod. The Association's proposals were sub- sequently embodied in the bus park- Ing Arrangement now in existence.
Realising the urgent necessity for releving the congestion at this point, your Committed forwarded in May a proposal for a temporary scheme of reorganisation which could be effected at little cost pend- ing the Introduction of a concrete scheme of reviales. This received the consideration of Government, but no steps were taken until in December a meeting of the Police Authorities with representatives of the Association took place on the spot. Arising out of this discus=" sion, a scheme was drawn up and submitted to Government, and your Committee have every hope that this important work will be put in hand in the very near future...
