Mexico City, Feb. 5., A. dastardly attempt at a8- sassination of the new President Senor Ortiz Rubio, fortunately without fatal consequences, was made, to-day at the conclusion of the ceremony of the Presidential Inauguration.

A youth jumping forward from the huge crowd, fired six shots at the new President, who was wounded in the face.

The shots were fired just as President Rubio's car was leaving the Palace after the swearing-in of the Cabinet.
