Mr. Hall produced a document to his Worship and remarked that it was a general permit issued to the roast pork dealers in, 1907 permitting them to sell 'pig en- trails. The speaker mentioned that in 1909, action was taken against a shop keeper but the defendant, ayas, discharged.

Mr. Hall pointed out that tho entrails:' of pigs, which were slaughtered for roasting, had to be sold fresh and since the case of 1909 no prosecution had been taken against doplers. It was not like competing with the stall holders of the market, as the de- fendants had not been selling fresh pork.

Mr. Hall drew his Worship's attention to the Ordinance and pointed out that the particular section under which the men were charged applied to butcher's meat. He argued that pig entrails, according to the definition of the Word in Webster's Dictionary, was

not meat.
