ARRANGEMENT.

London, Nov. 27.. Wireless matters were discussed during the debate in the House of Comnions last night.

The Postmaster General, Mr. Lees Smith, said he had no inten- of tion of changing the system licensing private stations for receiv ing broadcast programmes, The number of licences ut present fasu- ed for broadcasting sels was 2,869,- 000. This number was increasing, and it was expected that à figure of three million would be reached bo furt long.

1:

Questions had been raised as to how the Broadcasting Corporation proposed to finance the new high power regional stations which, when completed, will make alterau tive programmes available to isteners on the simplest receiving sets. The answer was that they 1" hnd considerable reserves out of which they could finance theso Alations.

森村

With regard to television, he said that they had come to agreement to allow the Baird Tele- vision Company the right to use broadcast stations for half an hour daily for five days each week, out of broadcast hours.

"Mr. Lees Smith said that the trans-Atlantic wireless telephone service was steadily progressing. It was proposed very shortly to in- troduce another long wave and an- ather short wave channel of com- munication, making altogether five channels from Rugby wireless teles graph station.

The question of whether fees could be further reduced was under consideration.-British Wireless.
