DEALER FIGHTS OFF

ROBBERS.

MAKES INTRUDERS CHANGE THEIR MINDS.

"

Rofusing, to be intimidated by the threats of four men who enter-. ed his house flourishing a pistol, Mr. Lul Sau, a cattle dealer Ilving at Mataukok Road, not only spyed himself from being robbed, but frightened the intruders to such an extent that they fled, with him in, full chase. By good luck one of the men was captured and in- spector Philips who was passing at the time, promptly arrested him. The full story of the attempted robbery is a rather intriguing one. It appears that about 9.30 a.m. yesterday, Lui Sau was sitting int the ground floor of fils house with three other Chinese. A knock was heard on the door, and a voice enquired for Mr. Lai. The door was opened and four men entered. When asked what was their busi- ness they simply shouted "search". They then proceeded to try and search Mr. Lui, but he resisted. fie was struck on the chest, whilst one of the men produced a pistol. In siile of this Mr. Lui assume the agressive in such a way, that the robbers took to their heals, with the outraged cattle dealer and foki named Li Yip; in close at- tendance.

After a long chase they succced- ed in catching one of the men, and as inspector Philips was pass- ing at the time, he arrested him. The robbions, were entirely un- successful ia their project, thanks to the cool manner in which Mr. Liq treated their threats.
