The International Track and Field Meeting at the Canidrome, Shanghai, recently, brought forth the pick of Shanghai's runners and field performers. The members of the United States Marina Corps carried off practically all the plums. The top photograph shows many of the performers after the open- ing ceremonias waiting for the events to begin. Here are some of the competitors at the International Track and Field Meeting at the Canidrome. These athletes are about to start on a mile run and all appear to be happy over their respective chances.

An elaborate ceremony marked the launching of the Minchuan, the new Chinese gunboat, at Kiangnan Docks recently. Mrs. Ho Ying-ching, wife of General Ho Ying-ching. Inspector General of the National Army, christened the ship, while Admiral Chen Shao-kuan, Vice-Minister of the Chinese Navy.. officiated. Prominent members of both the Chinese and foreign communities attended the ceremony, at which the above group was taken.
