The Coroner: Would these in- Juries, you think, be consistent with the theory that the deceased had fallen from a height?
Witness: I don't think No. You don't think they were the Fesult of a fall?—I don't think so.
Run Over by Vehicle. Would the injuries be consist- eat with the theory of the de. ceased having been struck by a vehicle? Having been run over by a vehicle but not struck.
What's your reason for that' For thinking that, it is more ean. sistent with the theory of having been run over than of having fallen?
The Coroner asked what the thud sounded like, and witness replied that it sounded like some thing heavy, such as a mass of lead falling. It was a peculiar sound, and appeared to be the falj of a dead weight.
Mrs. Reynolds was next câlled. She corroborated her husband's evidence, and ädded that, she shouted to the bus to stop but the conductor merely, waved, " what the Coroner described as the "wash out" signal. Witness later gave the number of the bus to the

The weight, continued witness was then taken off the vertebral column, passing to the left side of the chest and fracturing the weakest points, finally catching the left elbow and crushing the bone.
To say that body had fallen from a helght was in witness opinion, absurd. Witness painted out that there were no bruises on the head, this also being against the theory of a fall from a height. It was also stated that the ab- sence of scrutches suggested that the woman was not knocked down but had fallen in front of a vehicle and then been run over.
Witness Gives Evidence, Mr. A. F. Reynolds, who re aldes on the Kowloon City Road, said that he was sitting on the verandah of his house at about

seemed to be the attitude of people The Coroner remarked that it of the class of the witness to dis- like the idea of getting mixed up with anything where there was a dead body. It was, of course, for the jury to decide whether they believed that the driver was speak- ing the truth or not.
The conductor gave corrobora tive evidence, and said that on passing the body. he asked the driver why it was there and re- ceived the reply from the driver that he had not been responsible for it being there, as he did not knuck it down.
Witness denied that he waved his hand to Mrs. Reynolds. He said that he heard no one shout.
After reviewing the evidence, the Coroner gave the jury the
managing director of the firm, congratulated Mr. Pickering on his appointment, and expressed on behalf of a large circle of friends, regret at his departure, paying at the same time a tribute to his abilities and personality.
