It may be that other designs will have to be considered. Neither Minister wants to be responsible on a question of this kind, if any other way out of the difficulty can be found.

Much of the criticism against Mr. Hardiman's model, photo graphs of which have been print- ed in the newspapers, is directed against the horse on which the late Commander-in-Chief wits; and as Lord Haig's charger Is still, so far as one knows, in the Royal stables at Buckingham Palace, a suggestion has been made that the design shall be remodelled from the animal itself. The sculptor has vigorously defended his own conption, however.

Later in the day she paid an- other visit to the Office of Works to see the model design of Mr. Hardiman, who had taken it there for her inspection.
