VERY HELPFUL.
Except for occasional glimpses of brilliance on the part of a tow of the players, the trial match which was played on the Hongkong C.C ground on Saturday did not reach Interport standard and provided little assistance to the selection committee.

As a fitting analo to a successful 'season, two records were broken at the V.R.C. bath on Saturday even- last ing, when the Club hold its swimming night feld: There was quite a large gathering of spectatore,
among whom were H.E., the Officer Administering the Government (the Hon. Mr. W. T. Southorn, C.M.G.) and Commodore R. A. 8. Hill, R.N.
The two record-breakers were J. R. Johnstone, who clipped 20 seconds of the previous best time for the 880 own, made yards incidentally his outside the V.R.C. boat house as far back as 1016), and Wong 3long-hong, who won the 100 yards Back Stroke Championship of the Colony in the ex four seconds batter than the record set up by Leung Siu-man last year.

rather scrappy knock Falley started cautionsly and gars few chances in making 22 without being defeated. The innings realised a total of 179 runs for the loss of seven wickets
Bowker opened successfully but was taken off early. His two wickets in five overs only, cost him seven rana. None of the other bowlers could do much, Wyatt and Owen Hughes being particularly
off form.
Hancock's eleven had not much time in which to make the necessary runs and when stumps were drawn had only three compiled 96 for the loss of
top scorer wickets. W. Brace was while Major Crake had made 27 when the innings, was brought to a close. Scoren:
