A FIRST NATIONAL STAR.

This year the Cornish fishermen are having a better pilchard season than for many years past, fish being plentiful and prices, high, the main demand coming from Italy. The boats collect at Newlyn from St. Ives, Porthleven, and other ports as far east as Looo, and fish mainly from near Wolf Rock Lighthouse. Our pic

ture, taken by a staff photographer of the Times, shows boats returning to Newlyn harbour at dawn. (Times copyright.) ·
