FOREIGNERS NOT YET IN DANGER,
CHANG FAT-KWEI'S FORCES STILL INTACT!
LI CHAI-SUM RUMOUR.
It is fairly obvious from reliable information received in the Colony thie morning that General Chang Fat-kwel, far from being on the verge of elimination, is still vigorous factor in the present political situation in China.
We learn from Changsha bhat the forces of Chang Fat-kwel are intact and that the reports of their defeat, and of the slaughter of 2,000 of their number are merely Nanking "propaganda. General Ho Chlen appears to be a very doubtfulsupporter of the Nanking Government. He has made no attempt to bar the passage of Chang Fat-kwel, being "too busy 3uppressing bandits."
Passing Through Hunan,
The Ironsides are reported to be pasaing through Central Hunan and it is anticipated that they will be able to link themselves up with the rebel Kwangal forces, within a week.
Canton, Oct. 3.
HMS. Cicala, of the British West River Patrol, arrived in Wuchow yesterday and later wire- lessed to Canton that though the situation in Wuchow is tense, there is at present no real cause for anxiety regarding the safety-. of foreign residents.
Large numbers of troops are still being moved up the West River and Are concentrating
around Shivhing and Dosing.
Wuchow Surrender?
It appears from the Cicala messages that the troops actually in Wuchow at present are Kwangsi troops, but we have been assured in Canton that arrangements have been made for the Cantonese troops to take over Wuchow within the next two days without fighting," (presumably on a caah basis).
The General dn Command of the Kwangai troops at present occupy- Ing Wuchow has sent a messenger to Canton atating that he will not. oppose the entry of the Cantonese into Wachow
