A TALE UNADORNED
At the North-East Coast Exhibition (England) they have to provide meals for about 30,000 people daily. The only fuel that is used for this vast scheme of cooking and catering is gas.
16
Similarly, when Mesars, Lyons were entrusted with the whole of the catering for the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley they relied entirely upon gas as the fuel for providing 100,000 meals a day.
The moral needs no pointing; the tale needs no adoraing. Obviously a fuel which is used for such great under- takings has unrivalled merits of reliability, speed. suitability and economy.

“WEMBLEY OF THE NORTH."
SUCCESS OF THE EXHIBITION.
Newcastle, Aug. 7.
Opened by the Prince of Wales on May 14 last, the North-East Const Exhibition at Newcastle-upon-Tyna has been such a success that the; two-millionth visitor has already passed through Ita turnstiles.
Those who have already visited what has been so aptly styled "the Wembley of the North" are un- animous in agreement regarding the charm of its lay-out and the attrac-| tion of the exhibits themselves, which in variety, numbers, and in- terest make so wide an appeal.
But the aim of 'Newcastle's Ex- hibition is to revitalise the In- dustries of the densely populated North-East aren, and, if possible, "to open out fresh avenues for trade. An examination of facta and figures shows that there is no room for doubt on that score. For ona must, of course, consider the moral influence.of high attendance figures, and 2,000,000 visitors in twelve weeks can only be regarded as a splendid achievement.
"The receipts still continue to exceed expectations and are for in advance of the estimated receipts accepted by guarantors as security! for their money," recently declared Sir William J. Noble, Chairman of the Exhibition Finance Committee.
It is interesting to recall that the Royal Jubilee Exhibition, held at Newcastle in 1887, which lasted over five months, drew a total attendanca of 2,092,283, or an average daily attendance of over 14,000,

One outstanding feature of the Exhibition is the British Empire Marketing Board's pavilion. Ex- hibits from New Zealand, the Irish Free State, and Malaya have al ready been staged in turn, and re- ports have been received by the authorities from those who wore in charge of the "various sections ex- pressing complete satisfaction with the business done and the possi bilitics of more to follow.
Exhibitors in the coal, steel, and shipbuilding sections, say they are quite content with the publicity gained, and that they have got into personal touch, with agents and customers. Orders have been placed for boilers and machinery, for smokeless fuel, coke-nuts, and such specialities as Lanz Perlit fire- baths and other iron castings.
Upon to the present, about 100 pictures have been sold from the Palace of Arts, and there are con tinuous inquiries regarding valu- able old masters in the loan codec- tion-while something like 85,000 chickens have been "disposed of at the Chicken Incubator."
The Amusements Park continues to be a big financial success. Tha Himalayan Railway and the African] Village receipts at the pay-box up to date are about £8,000; while the
