Several doctors outspokenly criticised psycho-analyis when the British Medical Association, meet- ing in Manchester recently, discus- sed the report of a special com- mittee of investigation.

This committee, after sitting for two-and-a-half years, stated that it could not make any general pro- nouncement.

An amendment was moved regret ting that more emphasis had not been laid on "the very serious danger, especially to children and adolescents.".

In defence of the report which was eventually carried by a large majority. It was contended that paycho-umnlysis should not be oppos- ed merely because it was repugunni.. One doctor described the amend ment ng heresy hunt."
