SANITARY BOARD APPOINTS SELECT COMMITTEE,

SEPTIC TANK ISSUE.

At yesterday's meeting of the Sanitary Board, the Chairman (Mr. W. J. Carrie) said that the Board had oppointed a select com- mittee, consisting of the Vice- President, the Medical Officer of Health, and two Unofficial, mem. bera, to deal with applications for the Installation of flush systems: The decisions of this Committee, if unanimous, were to be taken as decisions of the Board.

Those present at the meeting were Mr. W. J. Carrie (chairman), the Hon. Mr. II. T. Creasy, Dr. H. A. Fawcett (M.O.II.), Dr. W. V. M. Koch, the Hon. Mr, J. P. Braga, Messrs. Wong Kwong-tin. M. K. Lo, T. N. Chau Watson (secretary).

Experience shews that the effluent from an anaerobie tank is not clear and odour- leas: if it were, there would i he little need for the further purification which la provided for in most installations.
