The U.8.8. Luzon, flagship of the American Yangtzo Patrol, which ran aground on th Woosung breakwater on Juno 5, is seen in the top photograph in drydock at the Kiangnan Dook and Engineering Works. The American gunboat was successfully floated and under her own power, steamed to tho Kiangnan drydook. With 1400 oxcursionista aboard, the Island Queen, one of the largest pleasure steamers plying in United States rivors was loft high and dry the other day on the mud fists of the Ohio river near Cincinnati. Rapidly rocading waters loft the big boat hopelessly stranded.

The polico tan on enrumunist demonstrations in Berlin on May Day, brought two days of rioting in which 24 perrons were killed and hundreds injured. Above a patrol of police, is soon charging oa "Reds" who had gathered at Oldenburg street in the Moabit district. The officers are carrying clubs, but the riots ended in shooting. Post mortem examinations showed that 17 of the 24 victims were killed by police bullets."
