includes not only the building off Shanghal, Japan, and *Europe via these railways, but also an auto. mobile road as far as the caves, which are about halfway up, and on the summit a first-class hotel. Two German and two Austrian firms of engineers have already been asked to submit detailed plans, and the preliminary, work is expected to be started during the coming summer months.
Another big building project is contemplated. The success of the huge hall erected for last year's German Singers' Festival has led the World Music And Singers League, to consider the erection in Vienna of a huge hall capable of accommodating 4,000 singers and 10,000 Ifsteners. According to President Gustav Macurer, such hall, which, could be used also for exhibitions, big theatrical per formances, gymnastic and sport displaye' and as a cinema, would be a paying proposition. Certain American music lovers are said tó be greatly interested in the scheme and a loan of one million dollars la said to have been offered in New York already. If the designs, of Professor Josef Hoffmann the well-known Viennese architect, are accepted, the new hall will take the shape of a huge organ.
