MONROE

HIGH SPEED ADDING-CALCULATOR

YOU'LL GET THE RIGHT ANSWER THE FIRST TIME, ON A MONROE

MISTAKES have a way of disguising themselves so that you often look right at them without recogniz- ing them. That is one of the reasons why few account- ants, estimators and others who handlo business figures, trust the first answer they get when they work without a Monroe Adding-Calculator.

Granted that ohooking figures back is a protection against mistakes, considor these three thoughts. First, it takes an onormous amount of time and norvous energy to obook back on figuros. Second, this expenditure of nervous energy increases the probability of overlooking errors and of repeating the same mistakes over and over. And third, when any part of the work is subject to human fallibility you can never bo dead sure of the right answor, in spito of all the chooking!

The simplest, safest and esstost way to raliova human minds of noadless strain and at the same timo guard against tho. mistakes human minds can't entirely avoid, is to use a Monroo..

used to be the party sonse.

The recent cloctions have shown in an interesting way the attitude of the British democracy to the quality of personality in politics. Labour's previous short term did It the inestimable service of bring- ing its leading men into national. prominence. To some extent the nation knew what it must expect If Labour formed a Government. It's spokesmen wero at least as well known as the leading Conser- vatives, and if they did not scintillate, neither did those of the Government which it replaced. They have no-one, perhaps, as brilliant na Mr. Winston Churchill in the one party or Mr. Lloyd George in the other. But Mr. Churchill has changed too many

coats to win confidence, and no thing is more significant of the British attitude towards persona! brilliance and even magnetism than the failure of Mr. Lloyd George. His gifts and the dilig- ence of his headquarters staff brought him again into a fleeting prominence which had seemed impossible shortly before. But the Labour Party could make too much play with former pledges unredeemed for him to win much confidence,

The fact remains-and it is true of Britain as of all other
