HUSBAND AND WIFE KILLED.

MOTOR CAR CRASHES INTO TELEGRAPH POST.

London, May, G. Mr. William Nicholson, age 67, and his wife, who was aged 65, of Anick Grange, Hexham, Nor- thumberland, were killed in a motoring accident yesterday on the Great North Road, three miles from Newark.

When near a bend in the road, the car, which was driven by their son, Mr. George Nicholson, skidd- ed, and crashed into a double tele- graph pole.

The side of the car was smnah, ed to splinters, and the nature of the injuries indicated that the heads of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson had come into violent contact with the pole. The son escaped with A few bruises.

The party was returning from u visit to another son at Ipswich. Mrs. Sarah Heiser, of Cricket- field-road, Clapton, E., was kill- ed, her husband, Mr. Samuel Helser, severely injured, and tw daughters, Annie and May, alight- ly injured, in a motor accident be- tween Dartford and Strood yester.. day. The car, which was being driven by one of the daughters, skidded, hit the kerb, run on the grans, and overturned. The cur caught fire and was destroyed.

A motor-car and a motor-cycle; were in cullision on the Kingston by-pana road on Saturday night. The motor-cycle burst into flames.. and the rider, Mr. C. Clark, of Lencldy-road, Tolworth, Was severely burned about the face, hands, and left leg. The driver of the car, Miss Florence Pryor, of Doneraile-street, Fulham, 'S.W.. escaped injury.

Bus Hits Parapet.

omnibus plying on the Slough to Leatherhead route, wha taking a bend on the Wey Bridge yesterday, and was approahcing a motor feeteream van, when it akluded violently, mounted. The footpath, and crashed into the parapet of the bridge.

Several of the iron railings were broken but the omnibus stopped whon one wheel was partially over the water.

In swinging round, the rear portion of the omnibus caught the Ice-cream van, and the driver of the van, Augustino Petrucci, was | injured. Four women равет- gers of the omnibus were taken to Weybridge Hospital auffering from bruises, cut fingers and lega, and shock, but after treatment were able to proceed to their homes.

Traffic was held up for nearly two hours.

ARREST OF TWO U.S. EX-OFFICIALS.

Salvador Ateca, wealthy Spaniard, said to have bean' the financial genius behind the Es- cobar uprising in Mexico, "has boon arrested with 760,000 dollars (about £150,000), in gold and securities in his possesalon which, the Mexican Government alleges, ho stole from Juarez banks while rebél forces held that elty.
