Representatives of all the principal foreiga Powers, as well as of all parts of China, attended the State funeral of the late Dr. Sun Yat-sen at Purple Mountains, Nanking. After a twolve mile journey from Nanking to the magificent mausoleum under the shadow of Purplo Mountain, the coffin of the Inte Dr. Sun Yat-sen was carried by a specially selected number of Chinese carriers from the foot of the monument to the entrance to the tomb. The aboyo picture shows the blue and white coated carriers maunting the 365 steps to the top of. tho meuspisum at the end of the funeral procession.

The whole of the material used in the contract placed by the Central Electricity Board with the General Electric Co., Ltd., for one section of the overhead trans- mission lines in the south-east of England, will be manufactured in Great Britain,
An official of the company stated that the contract, the value of which was approximately £500,000, would cover the erection of the 182,000 volt line in the district north
of the Thames, stretching from Rending on the west to Peterborough on the north, and Ipswich and Colchester on the cast. The total mileage of the overhead trans. mission would be 254 miles, and the total actual length of conductor would be 1,800 intles..
The contract would be carried out by the Goneral Electric Company with the assistance of their associated company, the Firelli-General Cable Werks, Ltd., of Southampton, the latter company carrying out all the actual erection work. The work of erection would take in all three years, and employment would be given in the actual erection work to between 500 and 1,000 men. In addition to that employment would be given to large numbers in the manufacture of the "ateel towers, steel aluminium conductors Insulators, and other accessories.
The overhead lines are one section of the system of overhead lines covering the whole of England and Scot, land which are boing erected by the Central Electricity Board with the object of Inking up the main generating. stations throughout the country and affording a cheap supply of electric power. In all districts.
