There may not be rivers of un- derground water in Hongkong Island, but there are certainly "pockets" of water, which are cap able of producing a plentiful sup ply of pure spring water suitable for potable, purposes.
I have suggested the inspection of those localities where "pockets" of water are likely to exist and in spite of this expert's opinion, it can do no harm to have a
new
geological survey made, and to have such localities bored and tapped for water.
Every drop of pure water suit, able for potable purposes is, needed at present, and every effort should be made to search for and procure this water, as things are wetting really serious.
It is reasonable to believe that sufficient quantities of this pure spring, water can be tapped for washing, bathing and flushing pur- poses, if not for drinking purposes; and isn't it better, for, the, In- habitants to draw upon the supply from these wells for such purposes our already depleted reservoirs?
