Early on Sunday morning last week a terrific explosion occurred in the Yangtzepoo District, Shanghai, resulting in the death of one man and two Chinese women. The above photographs depict the sceno, of destruction caused by the sudden explosion of a boiler, which not only wrecked the boiler room but destroyed practically everything within the immediate vicinity. The top picture shows a portion of the demolished premises after the explosion, with the debris after the two storeyed building had collapsed. The lower picture shows another section of the demolished building, at the right of which is the huge water tank
which tumbled through the building after the roof collapsed.
