Cashing of Cheques.
In reply to further questions, Col. Comyn said he was not aware that only bearer cheque books were in- sued by the bank. The N.A.A.F.I. had cashed cheques for him person- fully, but he had no definite know- ledge that they had cashed cheques for anyone else. He did not know whether instructions had been is- sues to the N.A.A.F.I. managers with regard to cashing cheques until he saw the evidence of Mr. Young. Witness had not issued in structions to regulate the proce- dure, as he saw no reason to do so.
Further questioned Col. Comyn said that the Bye-Product Account incoine was mostly derived from the sale of swill, and the money was used for cook's clothing, cleaning materials and things, like that..
Major Miles:Is the responsibil- ity for this that of the P.R.I. or of the messing officer--In this Bat- talion, it has been kept by the P.R.1. and therefore he was responsible for the expenditure.
Major Miles quoted from King's

stated that a statement of the account should be published monthly in regimental orders., Col. Camyn said that to his knowledge that had never been done. The Com- manding Officer would be respon- sible for its publication in regi- mental orders.
If this paragraph had been com- plied with, any defects in the re- venue of the account would have been discovered? It might have been a safeguard.

RADIO IN MATILDA HOSPITAL.
INSTALLATION NOW IN OPERATION.
J
For some considerable time now, the majority of hospitals through- out the British Isles have installed radio receiving sets for the bene- fit of patients, and much apprecia- tion has been recorded as a result.
It is interesting to note that the Matilda Hospital is the first in- stitution of its kind to instal simi- lar equipment in Hongkong, The Hospital Authorities are to be con- gratulated on thus keeping ahead of the times, and patients will in future be able to relleve the mono- tony of their days of convalescence by listening-in to, the programmes broadcast in Hongkong.
The installation, which is now completed, has been carried out by the General Electric Company of China, Ltd., and ful tests have given the most satisfactory results. Each bed in the general ward is equipped with head-phones, so that patients who are not in a condi- tion to listen to the radio will not be disturbed.
