Of Shanghai Empire Day celebrations the most interosting was the parade of Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Wolf Cubs and Brownies held at the British Con- sulate early in the morning. The customary formality of hoisting the Union Jack was performed in the presence of the British Consul-Gonoral, Mr., C. F. Garstin, who later inspected the parade and delivered an address to the youngsters on the significance of the occasion.
