STRAITS PAIR LOSE THE
DOUBLES MATCH..
The local tennis players Ng Szo- kwong and M. W. Lo again showed their superiority over the two visit- ing, players from the Straits when they had an easy victory in a doubles match at the Chinese Recreation Club yesterday. The two visitors, Khoo Hool-hye and Ong Eo-kong, never looked like making a stern fight for the game, although at times they, played excellent tennis. Their play was patchy, however, compared with the consistent work of Lo and Ng Sze- kwong. The match opened with a love game in favour of the local pair. but the visitors squared matters only for Lo and Ng to lend 2-1, mainly_as a result of faulty service by Ong Ee- kong.
Ng Sze-kwong was showing ex- cellent control of the ball, often placing well out of reach. Their opponents went in for a lot of hard During the course of his cross-hitting but wasted soveral shots. Tho Straite players improved after a of the department, All testifiedcxamination of the various wit-

The defendant said that the only thing he could do was to ro- Imburse what money he himself had received: He asked to be al- lowed to repay these victims by monthly instalments. He pointed out that he was unable to find the Filipino.
His Worship replied that if the Filipino were found the
only thing would be that he would be standing beside the defendant. The fact that the Filipino WAS standing there would not entitle the defendant to leave the dock. They would be standing together. If the Filipino told the defendant to do a dishonest thing it did not exonerate him (the defen-
dant),
Only & Dupe.
The defendant then said that he would leave the entire matter in his Worship's hands.
In registering a conviction on the two charges of fraudulent con- version his Warship said that the principal feature in the case was the number of peor decent people who had been victimised. His Wor- ship agreed that the defendant himself had been a dupe. He had been to a certain extent a dupe to the Filipino.
