PETTY OFFICER KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS.

Warder Lacey of Victoria Gool and Stoker Petty Officer W. McGuffle, of H.M.S. Thracian, ware the victims of a motor cycle combination accident on Monday night and although it would ap pear that, the latter was rendered unconscious his injuries are not serious. Mr. Lacey, it is under- stood, received a nasty gash on his face which did not, however, pro vent him from driving his machine to the Government Civil Hospital,

It would appear that the two men were at the Police Club at Happy Valley which place, they loft at about six o'clock in tho evening, riding in Mr. Lacey's combination. Mr. Lacey was driving and Mr. McGuffle was a passenger in the side car. They paid a visit to the warders' mess

As they were travelling along Lower Albert Road, for some reason at present not known the combination swerved suddenly. When Petty Officer McGufic re- covered consciousness he was in the Government Civil Hospital. He received a cut on the nose and abrasions on his right arm.

A plece of Crown land in Kow- Joon yesterday changed hands for the sum of $13,617, which was the upset price, the purchaser boing Mr. Wong Yiu-tung, acting on be half of Messra; Chan, Lung-plu and Chan Lung-lau.

Altogether the land which has been disposed of covers an area of 9,078 square feet and is at the junction of Apliu Street and Wong Chuk Street, the present annual rental being $62 per annum.

The usual conditions were at- tached to the sale, the term being 75 years from July 1, 1898, with the option of renewal at a Crown rent to be fixed by the Crown sur- veyor for a further term of 24 years, lesa, three days.

There was no bidding and the lot was knocked down to Mr. Wong Yiu-tung at the upset price.
