The field of six in Shanghai's semi-annual "classic of the classics" can be soon coming down the straight after the last turn of the mile and a quarter race. Pat the winner who provided a completo surprise by boating Whoatcroft, the favourite, is in the load. Pat lod the fold from start to finish, staving off a challenge made by the favourite as the field was rounding the turn into the straight on the home stretch.
