CANTON GUNBOATS RUN HAGEN WINS AGAIN IN

SINO-FOREIGN CONFERENCE AT THE AMERICAN CONSULATE,
SHAMEEN BUND CLOSED.
Latest news from Canton shows that the Shameen Bund has been closed, and that a few British marines have been Innded on the Concession as a precautionary measure."
There is no further information regarding the Kwangai advance, but much excitement was caused yesterday by the continued activities of the Canton aeroplanes against the rebellious gunbonts. It now scems, however, that these vessels have surrendered, probably for a big financial consideration.
A lengthy conference was held at the U.S. Consulate yesterday between consular representatives, commanders of the foreign warships and Canton officials, with a view to assuring that the gunboats would not take action against Canton whilst lying off Shameen. Vice-Admiral Shu, the commander of the Chinese fleet, refused to give any assurances, and he was for a time detained on an American gunboat as a guarantée.
As a condition of leaving Canton and handing over the guaboats to Canton, Vice-Admiral Shu wanted $3,000,000, but this sum was refused by the Canton officials. However, after planes had swooped down near the fleet, the gunboats ran up the white flag, and this is taken as an indication of surrender. The reported arrest of Admiral Chan Chak appears to be unfounded, as he attended yesterday's conference.
Below will be found a connective account of yesterday's happenings in Canton from the "Telegraph" correspondent:
