WOMAN TELLS OF A GAOL

CONFESSION.

Paris Feb. 24.

Another woman was sentenced to i death on a murder charge at the Versailles Assize Court yesterday.

This being the fifth death sen- tence passed on a woman within eight months, the question of whe- ther women should be sent to the guillotine or not has been raised once more.

There has been, no execution of women criminals in France since 40 years ago, and it le said that the President of the Republic is not favourable to the execution of wo- meu being resumed. He has just commuted to penal servitude for life the sentences on two womest.

The woman who appeared before the Versailles Assizos yesterday was in the dock together with her hus- band, named Louie Vallic. They were farm labourers, and wore both charged with the murder of a farm- er named Desmaret.

Meeting him near their house, they tried to force him to sign an 1.0.U. for 3,000 francs; and as ho refused they shot him dead. The four young children of the Valliesi were eye-witnesses of the crime.

It was stated that the husband knocked Desmare down, and the wife shot him dead. The accused man was also found guilty, but the jury, who showed no mercy for his wife, gave him the benefit of ex- tenuating circumstances, and he was sentenced to ponal servituda for life.

Should a Woman Tell?

For the first time in a French court, a woman under sentence of death appeared in court to give evi- detico.

1 N

-The idea of letter golf is to change one word to another and do it in par, a given number of strokes. Thus to change COW to Hen, in three strokes, COW, HOW HEW HEN.

2-You can change only one letter at a time.

3-You must have a complete word, of common usage, for each Jump. Slang words and abbrevia tions don't count.

4 The order of letters cannot be changed.
