A Suggestion.

Whilst

dealing with lorries, there is another question which should be raised. It in noticed that when stopping on a hill, drivers of lorries invariably use large stones as scotches, leaving them on the road when leaving. The habit is quite a dangerous one, but hard to remedy because of the difficulty in tracing drivers who leave such obstructions on roads. The best way of dealing with the matter would be to make it com- pulsory for all lorries to be fitted with seotches and chains.

Those Heaps!

In almost any part of the Colony, motorists constantly come nerous beaps of sand, stones or other road materin left by the wayside. During the day time, there is nothing to complain about, but a legitimate grumble is heard as a result of the absence of warning lights. Motor vehicle head-lamps are usually sufficiently powerful to detect these cbstructions in time to avoid running into them, but woe betide the car which happens to dim just at the moment of passing one of these heaps. A very nasty ae- eldent might easily reault, and we should imagine that the Govern- ment Department responsible might. be held responsible for any damage resulting thereby. Surely it is not too much to usk that all such ob- structions be adequately lighted..

Good Work.

The Roads Department is to be congratulated on opening the whole- of the roadway in the vicinity of the Police Club during Race week One half of the traffic thoroughfare has been closed for some time while the road is being built to a new level, and the thoughtful action in hurriedly effecting temporary Bur- facing in order to carry the heavy race traßle, has been grently op preciated by motorists.

Parking,

Much confusion and unnecessary delay is frequently caused in Pedder Street and Chater Road owing to the fact that card are not parked diagonally, Lines were once provided in the former thoroughfare to ensure that there would be no need for backing and forwarding when taking up a posi stands, but, good as the system was, ilon, or leaving these parking

The body of the car was built by Messrs. Thrupp & Maberly and represents the most perfect example of streamline bodywork over constructed. The power unit is a 12 cylinder Napter Lion engine which develops 980 hp, at full throttle, although not supercharged. Major Sograve's motor Loat "Miss England" with which he hopes to secure the world's speed" record for marine motoring can be seen at the back of the car.
