YESTERDAY'S SOCCER.'

THE UNITED SERVICES COMPETITION.

Playing at Bookunpoo in the Senior Inter-Servicos competition yesterday, the R.A. beat the Somursot Light Infantry. by five goals to three. The rain over night had made the field greasy, which seemed to handicap the Somersets.

The Somersets opened at a fast paco and after ten minutes Bowley- Bull opened their account with a shot that gave Fletcher no chance. Tho Gunnora then played up strongly but finished budly. The Somersets made a raid on

and tho Gunners' goal Flotcher saved from Palmor and Guest The Somersets went further ahead when Bowley-Bull taking the rebound from a weak clearance by Fletcher, sent the ball into the net. At the interval the infantrymen were leading by two clear goals.

The ground was like a quagmire when the second half commenced, and the heavy going favoured the Gan- nors, However, Bewley-Bull, scored again, and thus did the "hat trick" in the Somersets first represonlativo game.

Hallintor failed to hold a shot from Fuller, and Cotton rushing up opened the score for the R.A.

Bowley-Bull was through again, but a dive by Fletcher saved the goal. The RA. prossed strongly and and during a mix up in the goal mouth, Gill scored. Just on time GUI tried a high shot, the bail onter ing the net off the crossbar.

With the score three all, the teams lined up for axtra time. Cotton acorod for tho R.A. in the first ten mihutes, while Gill made the game safo by beating Hall in the closing portion.

The match was keenly contested, and had the ground been hard a differ- ent result might have been recorded.
