A small British party of enthusiastic mountaineers have recently carried out a series of climba in the Bernese Oberland, including a daring attempt to scale the 13,039ft. poak the Eiger, a feat not usually attemplod in the winter. Our ploture shows one of the party, who made their ascents without guidos, on the summit ridge of the Monch, showing in the distance the mighty Finstersarhorn. (Timer copyright).

Madison Square Garden, the famous Now York sporting arena, made world-famous by the efforts of the late Tax Rickard, the boxing promoter, became a regal mausoloum when his body lay in stato in the centre of the vast strug- ture prior to the impressive funeral service. Pictured above is the impressive setting as the caskot containing his re- mains lay in state. Framed by palms and lavish floral tributes, the ring floodlights accentuatod the effect.

Our photo shows the funeral service in progress at Madison Square Garden for the famous boxing promotor, Tex Rickard. Tea thousand people attended the last ceremonies, occupying the seats from which the boxing contests are witnessed.

The head of the procession that accompanied the body of Tex Rickard to its last resting place is shown above, leaving Madison Square Garden. The streets were lined with sympathisors.
