The late Admiral Sir Henry Woods, K.C.V.O., was an Admiral in the Imperial Ottoman Navy' Born in 1843, he entered the Royal Navy in 1858; and was a British delegate to the International Com- mission for the Improvement of Navigation in the Black Sea and Bosphorus, in 1867. He permitted to enter the Turkish naval service in 1870, and assisted in the extensive reorganisation of that service and Ita defences. He was made Pasha in 1883, and was a Naval A.D.C. to the lato Sultan. He received ‹ soveral other Ottoman decorations, and on retiring from active service took up his residence in Con. stantinople.]

London, Feb. 23. Sir Harry Barnston, the Con- servative Member of Parliament for the Eddiebury division of Cheshire since 1910, and formerly Controller of his Majesty's House- hold, died this morning in his fifty-ninth year.
At the last election, Sir 'Harry" 11,000 Barnston, who received voten, defeated a Liberal opponent hy 1,661 voles in a straight fight.
