Washington Jan. 15. Tho New York Herald Tribune and some other newspapers give cur- renty to the report that Mr. Parker Glibort will resign his post of Agent-General of Reparations as soon as the now Allied expert com- mission is appointed and gets actively to work, and although there is at the present time no of- ficial information forthcoming it is not unlikely that the report has solid foundation.

It has been known for some time that Mr. Gilbert, who for the last four years has been Agent-General and who has established his reputa tion as financier and administrator, has been anxious to turn to civil life and enter one of the greater New York banking houses. He has re- ceived offers of partnerships from several firma.

Mr. Gilbert has displayed extra- ordinary ability in handling the great technical questions involved, and also marked tact in his rela tions with German and other of cials. Mr. Gilbert is a lawyer as well as

a financier, with n very marked and engaging personality, and is still only 38 years of age.

It in because of this combination of qualities not often found in one man that is services are so much in demand. As Agent-General he receives a salary of £10,000 a year, but that is a fesbite compared with the profits of a partner in one of the great International banking firma. The senior partnership in J. P. Morgan and Co., for instance, is understood to be worth £200,000 a year.
