SALVAGE EFFORTS ON GENERAL METZINGER.
Moji, Feb. 6. The Tokyo Salvage Company'a Nasu Mara, which has been stand- ing by the 8.8, General Metzinger since last night succeeded despite the rough seas in landing abourd the distressed liner,
They ascertained the extent of damage done to numbers one and two holds, which have water in them. After temporary repairs, The Steamship, and pumping, an attempt will be made to refloat the ship, but it is regarded as extremely difficult.
The passengers are landing at Moji this evening, and will leave for Kobe by train, while the crew will remain at Moj till the ship is agaworthy.
Owing to the rough acas it is difficult to transfer the cargo, and possibly part of the cargo must be abandoned.Reuter.
