A wave of intense cold is passing over all Europe, resulting in the worst winter in living memory, leavy falls of snow have occurred In the Riviera and Greece, and there has been unprecedented cold in Italy. In Czechoslovakia a blinding blizzard has been blow- ing for 48 hours. In Cantantino- ple the trams are literally snowed under and no trains have arrived for three days. Half the town's water supply is frozen and several ships in the Black Sea are send- ing out S.O.S. signals.

From Bombay it is reported that several deaths have occurred among passengers on the Quetta Lahore mail trains owing to the intense cold which has heavily damaged the cotton; nungo and other fruit crops.
