ACTIVITIES REVIEWED AT ANNUAL MEETING.

The directors of the Chinese Y.M.C.A. held their annual meeting at the headquarters on Bridges Street on Tuesday night. Three Dowly elected members were ro- ceived, Dr. Man Wong of Tung Wah Hospital, Mr. Andrew Cheung, and Mr. L'S. Wan. In introducing Mr. Wan to the Board, the chairman called attention to the fact that his father, the late Dr. Wan Man Kal was one of the organizers and first directors of the Hongkong Y.M.C.A.

in 1901,

Officers for the year were elect ed, Mr. K. L. Châu, M. A., was re- elected President; Mr. J. D. Bush, M. A., Vice-President, Mr. K. H. Wu, M. A,, recording Secretary and Mr. Wang Kwok-shuen, Treasurer.

The Treasurer's report showed the expenses of the year to have been $75,156.07, covering the Busi- nean, Education and. Activities Do- partments, and the application of $10,400 to indebtedness incurred in the rather troubled years of the Colony. The Treasurer reported that this indebtedness has been reduced now to $4,436,72 which, it is expected, will be wiped off dur- ing the current year. The receipts for the year were $73,700.39 from all sources, including memberships, contributions, dormitories, educa- tional and other fees. Auditors were appointed to examine the books and the publication of the annual statement was authorized.

Much Good Work.

The report of the General Secre tary was given by Mr. Y. H. Tsao, M. A., who called attention to the fact that this was only his second annual meeting, since he returned to Hongkong at the invitation of the Board of Directors, to take up this position. He gave credit to the Board and to Mr. Ka Sik-wai, Secretary for Activities and Mr. Thul Mo-fat, Secretary for Buai ness' for the good, results of the year. The Afteen directors, the eight secretaries and the sixteen teachers in the day and evening schoole, together with the co-opera- tion of many members, hnd, he said, accomplished much work for the community in 1928., He went on to detail some important phases of it, such as the school athletic Teagues for basket ball and volley all, assisted by the Physical De partment, the Y.M.C.A. unit of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, which had performed 28,000 vaccinations in additions to giving health talks in the villages of the New Territories.

The day school had enrolled 220 young students, and the night Rchool 118 young men, all of whom are employed in the day. Many young men and students have come in for educational and vocational counsel and have been helped to de- cide about study in supplemental schools while they work, or about entering college for advanced study, or have sought advice about im- mediate openings or their life work.
