The present building, which was the home of Admiral the Earl of Orford until his death in 1717, came into great prominence as the Evans's Supper Rooms of Colonel Newcome and Clive Newcome.. It has for so long been the wiciting place of lovers of boxing that the prospect of removal is keenly felt by the older members of the club,

"The club has been my second home for years," Mr. Eugene Corri. the well-known referee, såld recent-

A large number of leading re- sidents were present at the Cathe dral and afterwards at Volunteer Hendquarters, where a reception was held, including His Excel leney the Officer Administering the Government, the Hon. Mr. W. T. Southorn, C.M.G., and Mrs. Southorn, Mr. Luard and Miss Luard, and the Bishop of Victoria, His Excellency was accompanied by Capt. A. J. L. Whyte and May. jor H. B. L. Dowbiggin, A.D.Ca.

She carried a trull of cream cry santhemums and orange blossom. She was escorted by four bridesmaids, these being Miss Reta Hazelant, Miss Dorothea Bewley, Miss Eileen Stubbings and Miss Elleen de Biere, all of whom were tastefully attired in green taffeta dresses, with net gold tissae caps. Their bouquets were of gold erysanthemums.

The bride's mother was dressed in cerise georgelte with black roat, and a hat of black and gold nequins. Lieut. C. G. Trenchan, R.N., was the "best man."

The boys of the Cathedral Choir met the bride at the West door, and proceeded to their accustom- ed places singing "Love Divine, all loves excelling."

"I am one of the two referees who' have stood inside the ring at a con- test here. It was in 1906, when the French-Canadian Tommy Burne best Gunner Moir, the champion of Endland, in a ten-round fight. The other was an American referee."

Mr. Corri demonstrated the dif ficulties of a referee standing out- side the ring according to the N.SC. rule, by engaging in a little shadow boxing.

"Old rules apart," he went on, many of us will be very sorry to leave the place. Still, thero's no doubt that it would be a great ad- vantage to be able to sent more than a thousand people at once.".

Healths Proposed.. Squadron Leader C. E. 11. Mac- pherson, of Kai Tak Aerodromy, in proposing the health of the bride and bridegroom said:

Your Excellency, ladies and gentlemen. It gives me very great pleasure indeed to have the honour of proposing the health of the bride and bridegroom.

Unlike most weddings that we attend from Lime to time in Hongkong, the two star performi- ers in this show are very well

known to all of us and I think they are definitely two of the most charming young people it has been one's pleasure to meet in the Colony.

The bride is without a doubt one of the jolliest birds who has fallen for the arrows of Cupid in the last year, (Laughter).

The bridegroom is one of the most amusing beardless officers I have met at Kat Tak; he is like the proverbial cat, with nine lives; since being at Kol Tak he has been crashed twice on the aerodrome, and like Jonah has been cast up by the sea on Gau Tau Rock after Hia aeroplane sank, on each occasion returning with a smile on his face and his marcel unruffled. (Laughter)..

So I feel quite convinced that the trials and tribulations of mar- ried life will just roll off them like water off a duck's back.

Before making you to drink with me to the health, long life and happiness of the bride and bride- groom, I would like to give each of them a piece of fatherly ad- vice; to the bride, as she has kloriously. long hair I would say "Don't come down to breakfast with your hair in curling tongs" (laughter); and to the bridegroom "never bury your head in a newя- paper at the breakfast table;" both these habite have been the cause of much matrimonial trou- ble in the past and must be avoided at all cost. (Laughter).

Now your Excellency, ladica and gentlemen, I'ask you, to join with me in drinking the health, long life and happiness of the bride and bridegroom, and also to the former many happy returns of the day-I hasten to add because it is her birthday...

In replying, the bridegroom thanked those present for their attendance, and toasted the brided- maids,
