AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION
FUNCTION.
An extremely enjoyable evening was spent at the Peninsula Hotel yesterday on the occasion of the annual dinner dance for members and friends of the Hongkong Au- Lomobile Association. The atten- dance numbered about 360.
During the course of the even- Ing. prizes won at the illuminated motor-car and motor-cycle parade at the Grand Tattoo were present- od by Mra. E. D. C. Wolfe to the winners.
Before asking Mrs. Wolfe to distribute the prizes, Mr. P. M. Hodgson, President of the Associa tion, said:

I must be brief tonight as we have something else to do, nacne- ly, to present the prizes awarded. for the best and most cleverly de- corated Cars in the Tattoo Proces sion.
The judges had great difficulty in coming to a decision to whom to award these prizes owing to the general excellence of the ex- hibits. I think the Empire car stood out but as this was put in by this Association it did not compete for a prize. The most effective car was that of the Standard Oil Company as a service station com- plete in the minutest detail, and this takes first prize of the trade cars. (Applause).

Traffic Office Praised, This is a happy choice as this Association is always in close and friendly touch with the Police and most Members come in con- tact with the Traffe Department at one time or another-some of you perhaps unwillingly. I am sure you will agree with me, however, that the officers of the Traffic De partment are always civil and courteous and I can vouch for the fact that many reports made are overlooked and put into the waste paper basket.
