That message was the last re. ceived from the Euzkadi. All efforts to get in touch with her by sending out calls every five minutes through the Radio Cor- poration were futile. This gave rise to the concern felt during the last few days by local shippers as to her fate, as it was learned that the typhoon passed with full force along her route.
Carried Away By Typhoon,
It is presumed here that the Bazkadi was carried away from her place of refuge by the force of the typhoon.
She is believed to have crashed Into San Juan Island and imme- diately sank before the Crew could take to the bonts. Her wireless set was put out of com- mission by the typhoon earlier, it is believed, as she did not sond out any distress message.
The Euzkadi was especially pur chased by Madrigal and Company in Europe for inter-island service. She was built in 1900 by Schiff- swerft von Henry Koch, Lubeck, Hamburg,, Germany, and was re- gistered under the German flag. She was fitted with electric light and wireless and was of ~1,145 gross tons and 720 net.
