The following proclamation has been issued by President Coolidge:

KOWLOON BUSES.

FAILING TO RUN VEHICLES TO SCHEDULE.

Of special interest to Kow- loon residents of the outlying districts is the caso which came before Mr. E. W. Hamilton at the Kowloon Magistracy yesterday, when the proprietor of the Kow- loon Motor Bus Company was charged with failing to run his vehicles to schedule, as approved by the Captain Superintendent of Police,

Mr. F. H. Losely appeared on behalf of the defendant and on- tered a plea of not guilty, The regulations must be reasonable, he said; it was impossible for the proprietor to run the buses to echedule.

His Worship remarked that he did not think Mr. Leseby could ask a Police Magistrate to upset the law.

Evidence given by Sub-Inspector Nicol was to the effect that he went to the Star Ferry at 5.45 p.m. on November 5 when he saw Mr. J. V. Panizzi and Mr. G. Forder, who were waft- Ing for a bus to Kowloon Tong. Wit ness waited until 6,07 p.m. and on there being no busds to Kowloon Tong, the two gentlemen were given a lift in witness' car.

When passing the Dairy Far in Nathan Road, a Kowloon Tong bus was proceeding towards the Ferry. Another was passed at Kimberley Road, within a minute of the first. Witness had himself seen the regulations as issued by the C.S.P. requiring a regular ten minutes service to Kowloon Tong, In reply to his Worship witness said that he had made no quiries before applying for the summons. He was not aware of any accident on that date, In which busca of the. Kowloon Company were involved and he had received no report to that effect.
