Two steamers figured in a remarkable accident. in Shanghat last wask in which the freighter Edenton crashed into the N. Y. K. Wharf. Above 1 noen the steamer Faris Maru belag pulled into deeper water. The Edenton swarved in order to avoid striking the Paris Mara, but instead collided with the wharf. Below is a section of the wharf shed damaged by the collision. Note the powerful beam which was driven almost through the building by the impact.
The pontoon of the N. Y. "K. Wharf after the steamer Edenton had. orashed into it. The aft end of the pontoon is partly submerged.
