DEATH.

$500 FINE FOR EUROPEAN MOTORIST.

Ipoh, Oct. 25. The Kampar Magistrate was occupied all Tuesday with hearing a charge against T. McCarthy, a young winchman employed on a tin dredge, of causing the death of a ricksha puller by rash driving. The prosecution alleged that accused's car crashed into the ricksha and the puller was knock- ed down and dragged fifteen feet. McCarthy sald that it was u He drove dark and rainy night.

Ho home with two friende. neither, saw anything nor knew what had happened until the accl- dent was over. Several witnesses were examined and the Magistrate visited the scene.

The accused was convicted of negligent driving and fined $500.
