When taffetas was cautiously urged as a tentative medium for the flaring silhouette, that swopt all before it in fashion, there were few who accorded it a hearty wel- come. Things are difforent now, However.

It has demonstratód. that the now flair for great elaboration, fgathers and folds of fabrle, finds no more lovely expression than in taffetas. We find it now, not only in the "period" frock or robe-de- 'style, but in chis, afternoon models, and in two-piece practical dresses..

Many windows on the Grands Boulovards, are given over entire ly to taffetas displays. One shop chooses navy blue as, the colour, and features Laffetas in this colour In combination with georgette, in frocks for older women. Another shop selects black for afternoon wear, trimming it with white and beige lingerie touches, and another window-ahows a practical morning phase, charming little two-piece dresses, combining plald taffetas with a plain, pleated skirt, the latter trimmed in a smart plaid.

Satins are still popular, and are followed by georgette and velvet combinations do tho smarter styles, Crepe sation, Canton crepes, and fiat crepes are among the new

favoured Season's materials,
