After dinner, Inspector Spear A,as prosented with an 18 carat gold Hunter watch, with a gold and platinum chain, and a tollet set in a case. by Chief Inspector Grant, on behalf of tho Police.
When the guests were all seated Inspector Spear was piped to his seat by Pipe Major Mackie.
After dinner, in making the pro- sentation, the chairman said they had gathered to bid goodbye to an old and trusted friend. It was not necessary for him to sing the praises of Inspector Spear as they all knew him. He was a man of few words Capplause). They were pleased to see that Inspector Spear was leaving them in the best of health and not on account of ill- health. "We also hope that when he arrives Home he will qualify for the 12 per cent. (Laughter and Applause).
Continuing,, Mr. Grant said that hd must thank the artists. They had with them several friends from the King's. Own Scottish Borderers who had rendered some very nice items and ho expressed the hope that that would not be the last occasion on which they would join the Hongkong Police In sending some of their friends away, (Applause).
In handing the gifta to Inspec- tor Spear, Mr. Grant said he hoped that Mr. Spear would live long to use them, It was only a small token but he know that their best wlahes went with him.

Vagabond.” Replying, Inspector Spear said he was sorry he could not do what his predecessor had done, which was to invite any of them vieit- ing the old country to call on him. as he had "No fixed abode," (Laughter). He was going to be a "Roiling vagabond" (Laughter), and if they wanted an interpreta- tion of that they could ask Mr. Payne. (More laughter).
Mr. Spear continned that he had. tried to play the game and be one of the boys and he thought) he had succeeded. (Hear hear), He thanked them one and all for the beautiful presents. Every time he looked at them he would remember days gone by and he would not forget the old Sul Kwal (Water Police Station). (Laughter).
