CHILD WITH CATTLE DISEASE SYMPTOMS.

AUTHORITIES' DILEMMA OVER

PRECAUTION,

Symptoms of foot-and-mouth dis- ease found in a 6-year-old child at Mowcop, Cheshire, have placed the medical authorities in a dilemma.

Although an official report has not yet been received from the Manchester laboratory to which lie serum has been forwarded, local doctors, including the medical of- ficer, declare the symptoms to be identical with those which affect cattle,

Regulations are laid down to deal with an outbreak of the disease in cuttle, but, so far as human beings are concerned, the disease is ap |parently not notifiàble,

.C18CA

The police are searching the dis- trict for any suspected amongst cattle. The only clue con- sidered to offer an explanation la| that the family to which the child belongs have used water from a spring from which cattle drank.
