Triple Chic Turban of Hatters' Plush In Marron Brown.. Its Ornament Is a Golden Question Mark
ATS are very "different" this autumn. In
Hlhouette, media and colour they have
grown vastly subtle and feminine. The new felts are beautifully soft and pliable and lend themselves to draping, tucks and manipulation.
New media include hatters' plush, that Juxurious material that is lovely and voluptuous enough looking to make any, model of that fashionable regardless of line or decoration. Soleil, a fine, thin fabric that came Inte popularity last season, is with us again, in colours appealing to the eye. Velvets are promised for later is the season, as is velour.
Browns are likely to be the popular colours this autumn, with copper, elunamon, red- brown marron the likely shades. New greys include an "offblack" which in other years was called "durk smokod-grey." Striking reds Vnclude mahogany and auburn.
THREE types of hats offer themselves as guide posts to chic in the selection of early autumn hats.
There is a tendency in all, the small hats 10. shorten the front crown line, toward shallower front lines and longer backlines, with the hat rounding well under the bob in the back...
For the provocative type of off-the-face hal that is youth personified in its cut, nothing could be smarter than the chic black velour at the left centre. The shallower crown is em phasized by the way in which what would have been a brim is thrown back decisively against the crown. A feather ornament in black and white emphasizes the off-the-face line by being exactly in the centre of the hat,
Here is a hat for the very young matron, for the pert college girl, and for the more sophisticated woman who happens to be blessed with regular and delicate features. For any woman who just isn't the type, so to
would
speak, the wearing of a hat of this style be fatal. It is smart only when the right person enhances her personality with it,
Four different hals illustrate the cloche variety that favour one side for trimming. Newest of this type ie the modified beret; have shown at the right centre. Here we French workmanship at its best. For there is skill in the way the bits, of platinum shaded felt are joined.
This modified beret has a declied down-01- the right-side movement. The bandesu effect fits the head tightly, in much, the same way the skull caps under the big Spanish hats did this summer. From this bandeau the little tam rises in tailored sveltness on the left side,
the car on to dip nonchalantly over uther side, and a bit at the back.
ᎪᎢ
the
T the upper right we havo a new little cloche, called the "town cap." It is a navy blue velour, with modernistic bandings of tri-colour around its crown and dipping down irregularly as do both its sides. The red- white-blue scheme promises to carry over into winter much of. Its popularity from summer, with either red or blue as the fundamental colour, the others decorating it.
This little "own cap" is ideal for 'costume wear, with a sumptuous fur anuggled around one's throat while she speeds in her limousine shopping, or to luncheon.
New in three ways Is the feminine. murron brown hatters' plusli turban shown at the lower left. In colour, in medium, and in the little novelty trimming it achievea in its goldun eternal question that loops down on the right side from an ear-flap of the brown, It is up: to-the-minute.
This is a smart hat for travel, worn with a cloth dress with some of the new metal lace as a collar, for instance. It is a smart costume hat, also, for its line allows space for a coat's
collar, er it fits, tightly enough to suit a fur.
Here we have the lower crown, especially
in the front. And above all we have the that seems B0 emphasis on one-sidedness popular this season.
TN the tan hat that combines rose, belge and rose-beige in its trimming, we have a radical change in line. This soleil hat, shown in the centre of the page, manipulates the crown to effect a decided off-the-face effect. Then it dips its sides irregularly, rounding the back much deeper than most hats are wont to do.
Ita decorative rosette of self-material makes it a fussy-feminine hat, the kind that is winning more and more, ardent advocates. It is impossible for a woman to look plain in such a delicate, ornamental hat. Yet it is simple enough to be almost tailored. Such is the subtle change in hats!
Last comes the dressy autumn hat, the third type of new hat mentioned today, the hat with a brim that takes a downward path; ·
This hat, shown at the upper left, is of very fine black felt. Its brim follows the peacock. silhouette so dear to the heart of women in Its backline is their evening gowns, now. deeper than either side. Likewise the front of the brim is shorter, just as the now frocks have now shorter fronts.
For trimming, this black hat bas a smart rose feather pad that cuts through the brim on the left side, hugging Milady's cheek in an intriguing manner and giving colour and beauty thereby.
This type of hat promises a vogue
for- afternoon wear. It is vastly becoming to women; And it is olegant, with a feeling of leisure moments, far from crowds,, in its size and decoration. It is decidedly the type of hát a woman would love to own, the kipd she will dream of buying when she has a couple for hard street wear already on her shelf.
