The above two photographs were taken at the launchingof the 8.s.. Bremen, one of the new mammoth liners of the North German Lloyd. The launching eeremony was performed by President von Hindenburg. An article on another page of this issue describes the vessel and her sister ship, the s.s. Europa, which was launched by Mr: J. G. Schurman, the U.S. Ambassador to Germany.

Part of the Portuguese Pageant at the Grand Tattoo will be a representation of Vasco da Gama's caravel, "San Gabriel" which in 1497 made an historic journey from Portugal to Calicut.

Celebrating the world's eldest alliance, that between Portugal, anți Britain, the above font forms part of the Portuguese Pageant. Bliss Barbosa represents Britännid and Miss Albuquerque represents Portu gual. (Photos, Meo Cheung).
