Inspector Spear first arrived in Hongkong in March, 1907, joining the Police Force as a constable, After six years' service he was mado a lance sergeant and in 1919 full sergeant. ....

In 1920, he was promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector and two years ago became a full rank Ins- pector, from which post he is now retiring.

Of genial disposition, Inspector Spear had made many friends locally, both with members of the Force and with the general public. Inspector Spear is one of the oldest officers at present with the Hongkong Police and during his twenty-one years service, he must have seen many changes in the Colony and in the Police Force.

All his friends will wish him a long period of happy retirement in the Old Country. It is under- atood that the Inspector will be leaving the Colony on October 18.

The Secret of Their Weakness. What Pallid, Nervous Women Should Do To Get Strong.

Many women, mothers who have the care of children, girls at school or business who feel worn-out every night after the day's routine, and even society. women who have an endless 'round of duties and little time for rent and relaxation, find that their colour fades, their nerves become cnally frritable, and they seem going into 'n decline that it is very difficult to arrest and correct. The doctors may call this nervous debility or neurasthenia, or may ascribe it to an anaemic. condition, but the symptoms are very much the same in the majority of cases.

There is usually pallor of the face and lips, a tendency to- wards shortness of breath, the patient notices that she tires more easily than formerly and there is often loss of appetite. She has back pains, headaches and other ills at intervals which are not natural to regular health. The remedy is to build up the blood, for only in this way can the natural colour be restored and the under

nourished nerves be revitalizad. If you have any or all of the symptoms do not allow your self to get worse by neglect, for blood-poverty is the first step to serious, and often chronte, illhealth.
