The prosecution had beon successful in establishing an alibi for the accused man for the whole of the day with the exception
of an hour and 15 minutes, between 2.45 p.m. and 4 pm. The evidence of Miss Crossley and the maids and others was utterly inconsistent with the suggestion of the prosecu tion that the accused was walking up and down that rond with two lengths of cord in his pocket ready to strangle his wife. The prosecu- tlon's own evidence on that point was utterly inconalatent with carefully premeditated and brutally executed crime.
